AirMesh Polyester Banners

Our lightest, most breathable mesh banner — 40–45% airflow, delivered free.

The Mesh Banner Built for Wind

AirMesh is a 105gsm polyester mesh with 40–45% airflow, the most breathable banner material we sell. Wind passes straight through it, which takes the strain off the banner, the eyelets and whatever it's fixed to. It's made for exposed fences, railings, scaffolding, barriers and building wraps, where a solid banner would act like a sail.

It's also our lowest-cost outdoor banner material. It's fire-rated to DIN 4102-1 B1, washable, and delivered folded rather than rolled. Enter any size in metres, centimetres, millimetres, feet or inches.

AirMesh or Fabric Mesh Premium?

We sell two polyester mesh banners. The right one depends on how windy the site is and how much detail your design has.

Choose AirMesh for the windiest sites, long fence runs and bold, simple designs: a logo, a phone number, large imagery. Choose Fabric Mesh Premium if your design has finer detail or smaller text, or you want a denser, more solid look. Choose PVC for a solid banner where wind isn't a concern.

Designing for AirMesh

This is where AirMesh differs most from other materials. The holes in the mesh are at least 7mm long and 2mm wide, and they break up anything small.

  • Keep text at least 20mm tall. Smaller text loses legibility.
  • Use bold, thick typefaces. Thin strokes get lost between the holes.
  • Avoid small QR codes. The holes can stop them scanning. If you need one, make it large, and test a sample first.
  • Go for big, simple, high-contrast designs. These read best from a distance, which is how fence banners are usually seen.

The direction of the holes depends on how the material is cut, and it can vary between banners in the same order. If that matters for your design, talk to us before ordering.

Around 75% of the print shows through to the back of the banner. Seen from behind, people will see your design, reversed.

Choosing a Finish

Hems & Eyelets is the standard choice for fences and barriers. Each edge has a 50mm sewn hem with webbing tape inside for extra strength, fitted with clear plastic eyelets that won't rust. There's one eyelet in each corner and no more than one per metre in between. If you need them closer together, or in specific positions, tell us when you order. There's no extra charge.

Hems Only gives the same reinforced hem with no eyelets, for clipping, clamping or fixing your own way.

Pole Pocket(s) adds a sewn sleeve along the edges you choose, so a pole can slide through. Tell us your pole diameter and we'll size the pocket to fit.

What Goes Wrong, and Why

Text is hard to read. It was smaller than 20mm or in a thin typeface, and the mesh holes broke it up. Make it bigger and bolder, or choose Fabric Mesh Premium.

The QR code won't scan. It's too small for the mesh. Make it much larger, test a sample, or put it on a solid banner instead.

A white edge, or the design is cut short. The artwork only had 5mm bleed, which is the PVC standard. AirMesh needs 50mm.

Text disappears into the hem. The hem takes up the outer 50mm all round. Keep text and logos well inside it.

It arrived creased. AirMesh is shipped folded. The creases drop out once the banner is tensioned, or can be ironed out.

Eyelets have pulled. The banner was fixed with cable ties or rope that has no give. Use bungee ball ties through every eyelet. Like all banners, take it down in winds over 30mph.

Size Limits

The shortest edge of your banner can be up to about 2900mm, depending on the finish. The longer edge can be any length. If you need both edges over 3m, contact us for a quote.

Artwork Requirements

Set your artwork up at the same proportions as your banner. You can work at full size, half, quarter or 10% scale. For anything over 5m in either direction, use a smaller scale, because PDFs can't exceed 5080mm.

  • Bleed: 50mm on every edge, at full size
  • Safe area: keep text and logos well clear of the 50mm hem
  • Text: at least 20mm tall, in a bold typeface
  • Colour: CMYK. For black on AirMesh, use 100% black (C0 M0 Y0 K100).
  • Resolution: if you design at reduced scale, switch off image downsampling when exporting
  • No crop marks, colour bars or keylines in the file
  • Fonts outlined, images embedded
  • PDF only
  • One design per order

Seams are sewn in black or white thread, whichever suits your design.

Every file is checked by a real person before printing, so obvious problems get flagged. We don't make changes or fixes to artwork — files should be supplied print-ready.

FAQs

What is AirMesh?
A 105gsm 100% polyester mesh with 40–45% airflow, dye-sublimation printed. It's the lightest and most breathable banner material we sell.

How much wind does it let through?
40–45% airflow, more than either our Fabric Mesh Premium or PVC banners.

How light is it?
A 3375 × 1780mm banner weighs about 0.8kg, against about 1.4kg in Fabric Mesh Premium and 1.9kg in PVC.

How small can my text be?
At least 20mm tall, in a bold typeface. The mesh holes break up anything smaller.

Will a QR code work?

Yes. Around 75% shows through, reversed.
