Folded Leaflet Printing
Six fold types across seven sizes — from just 25, delivered free.
Leaflets That Hold More Than a Flyer
A folded leaflet does what a flat one can't. Fold an A4 sheet twice and you get six panels of usable space in something that still fits a DL envelope or a display rack — enough for a full menu, a price list, a service breakdown or a walking route, without asking anyone to read a wall of text on one side.
Seven sizes, six fold types, 4pp to 8pp, on silk or uncoated stock from 120gsm to 350gsm. From 25 leaflets, with free UK delivery.
Choosing Your Fold
The fold determines how the leaflet opens and how your content is revealed, so it's worth deciding before you design rather than after.
- Half fold — one crease down the middle, giving four panels. The simplest option and the most economical. Good for menus, programmes and anything read like a card.
- C-fold — two creases folding one panel inside the other, like a letter in an envelope. Six panels, and the classic leaflet fold. The inside opens as one continuous spread, which suits designs that need a wide uninterrupted panel.
- C-fold 8pp (roll) — three creases, with each panel rolling inside the last. Eight panels, and the option when you need more content than a standard C-fold holds. Panels get progressively narrower to allow for the roll.
- Z-fold — two creases folding in alternate directions, concertina style. Six panels, and every one is the same width. The reader sees each panel in turn as they open it, which makes it the natural choice for step-by-step content or a sequence.
- Z-fold 8pp (concertina) — the same alternating fold extended to eight panels. Good for timelines, itineraries and anything with a running order.
- Cross fold — folded twice at right angles, so the sheet opens out in two directions to a full-size spread. Eight panels, and the choice when you need a large flat area — maps, floor plans, seating layouts or a full-size poster that folds down small.
If you're unsure: half fold for simplicity, C-fold for a conventional leaflet, Z-fold when the content has an order to it, and cross fold when something needs to open out large.
Sizes and Page Counts
Available in seven finished sizes: A4, A5, A6, DL, 1/3 A3, 148mm square and 210mm square. The size quoted is the finished folded size, not the flat sheet.
Page counts run 4pp, 6pp and 8pp, depending on the fold you choose. "pp" means printed panels — a 6pp leaflet has six faces across the front and back of a folded sheet, not six sheets of paper.
Paper Stocks
Eight options, in silk and uncoated:
Silk — 150gsm, 170gsm, 250gsm and 350gsm. Smooth with a low sheen, holds colour well, and the better choice where photography or bold colour matters.
Uncoated — 120gsm, 170gsm, 250gsm and 350gsm. Matt and slightly textured, takes pen cleanly, and prints colour a little softer. Choose it for anything written on or for an understated look.
Weight matters more on a folded leaflet than a flat one. Lighter stocks fold cleanly and cost less to post, which is why 120gsm and 150gsm suit high-volume mailings. Heavier stocks feel more substantial but can crack slightly along the crease, particularly on silk — worth bearing in mind at 350gsm if the fold runs through a dark solid colour.
Supplying Your Artwork
One requirement catches most people out, and it's the opposite of what our booklets need.
Supply spreads, not single pages. A folded leaflet is one flat sheet with creases in it, so your artwork should be laid out as the complete flat sheet — outside spread on one page, inside spread on the other. Don't supply each panel as a separate page.
Start from our templates rather than building from scratch. They show where every crease falls and which panel ends up where, which matters because panels aren't in reading order on the flat sheet. On a C-fold or roll fold in particular, the panel that folds innermost is slightly narrower than the others — the template accounts for that.
Keep important content clear of the creases. Anything crossing a fold will be interrupted by it.
Artwork Requirements
- Bleed: 3mm all round
- Safe zone: 3mm
- Page format: spreads, not single pages
- Resolution: 300 dpi minimum
- Format: PDF
- Colour: CMYK
- Fonts: outlined or embedded
Free templates are available for half fold portrait, half fold landscape, C-fold, Z-fold and cross fold, for the full Adobe Suite.
Every file is checked by a real person before printing, so obvious problems get flagged. We don't make changes or fixes to artwork — files should be supplied print-ready.
Turnaround & Delivery
Choose a 1 working day turnaround for urgent orders, or 2–3 working days as standard. The first working day begins the day after your order is placed, and turnaround covers production only — delivery is on top of that.
Standard UK delivery is free on all folded leaflet orders, whatever the size or quantity. Collection from our Burnley production facility is also available.
Need something flat instead? Our flyer printing range covers the same sizes unfolded. For anything longer than eight panels, our stapled booklets run from 8 to 72 pages.
FAQs
What's the minimum order?
25 leaflets.
What sizes are available?
A4, A5, A6, DL, 1/3 A3, 148mm square and 210mm square. The size given is the finished folded size.
Which fold should I choose?
Half fold for a simple four-panel leaflet. C-fold for a conventional six-panel one. Z-fold when content follows a sequence. Cross fold when it needs to open out to a large flat area like a map.
What does 4pp, 6pp and 8pp mean?
Printed panels. A 6pp leaflet has six faces across the front and back of one folded sheet.
Should I supply spreads or single pages?
Spreads. A folded leaflet is one flat sheet, so lay your artwork out as the complete sheet rather than as individual panels.
Can I have them laminated?
Not on this product. Our laminated flyers offer gloss, matt and soft touch on flat sheets.
Which stock should I choose?
Silk for colour and photography, uncoated if anyone writes on it. Lighter weights fold more cleanly and cost less to post; heavier weights feel more substantial.
How long does it take?
1 working day or 2–3 working days production, starting the day after you order, with delivery on top.
Is delivery really free?
Yes. Standard UK delivery is included on all folded leaflet orders, with no minimum spend.
