The Display That Reads From Every Angle

A table talker is a three-panel card folded into a triangular prism. It stands tall on a table, and because there's no back to it, everyone sitting round gets a face pointing at them.

That's the difference from a tent card. A tent folds once and reads from two sides, sitting low. A table talker folds twice, stands upright, and reads from three — which is why they're the standard in pubs, restaurants and anywhere people sit in groups.

Sizes

• 1/3 A3 (140 x 297mm) — the tallest and most visible. Stands well above the clutter on a busy table and reads across a room.
• DL (99 x 210mm) — narrower and slightly shorter. The most common choice for restaurant tables, where it holds attention without dominating the setting.
• A6 (105 x 148mm) — compact. Suits smaller tables, bar tops and counters where space is tight.

Sizes given are the flat panel dimensions. Folded, the talker stands at that height on a triangular base.

Three Panels From One Printed Side

Worth explaining, because "single sided" sounds like something's missing.

A table talker is printed flat as one long piece, then folded twice into a triangle. All three visible faces come from the same printed side of the sheet — the unprinted side ends up on the inside, where nobody sees it.

The three panels don't have to be identical. Many businesses run the same design on all three for consistency, but you can equally use one for a headline offer, one for detail, and one for contact details or a QR code.

450gsm Silk

Heavy board rather than card, which is what a freestanding triangle needs. Anything lighter bows at the fold and the talker leans rather than standing straight — a bowed table talker on a restaurant table looks worse than none at all.

Silk gives a smooth, low-sheen surface with strong colour density, so photography and food imagery reproduce well. Unlaminated silk is also writable with a ballpoint, if you want to add a price by hand.

Lamination

Applied to both sides, in three finishes:

• Gloss — 25 micron film. Deepest colour and highest shine. The usual choice in food settings, where it also wipes clean.
• Matt — 27 micron film. Low sheen, resists fingerprints, and cuts glare under pendant lights and downlights.
• Soft touch — 32 micron velvet film. The most premium and most tactile of the three.

Lamination is worth serious consideration on a table talker. They get picked up, put down, spilled on and wiped constantly, and an unlaminated card looks tired within a fortnight in a busy venue.

Bear in mind a laminated surface won't take pen — choose unlaminated if you want to write on it.

Spot UV

Available as an embellishment on laminated talkers. A UV-cured varnish applied to selected areas of your artwork, giving a raised gloss against the surrounding finish.

It shows best against matt or soft touch, where the contrast is most visible. On gloss the effect is subtler.

Spot UV can only be applied over lamination — it isn't available on unlaminated cards.

Table Talker, Tent Card or Strut Card?

All three sit on a table or counter. The difference is shape and how many people can read them.

Table talker — three panels, stands tall, reads from every angle. Best for tables people sit around.

Tent card — two panels, sits low, reads from two sides. Simpler and cheaper, good for place settings and counters.

Strut card — flat board with a glued strut, faces one way, available up to A4. Best against a wall or a till where everyone approaches from the front.

Artwork Requirements

• Bleed: 3mm all round
• Safe zone: 3mm
• Resolution: 300 dpi minimum
• Format: PDF
• Colour: CMYK
• Fonts: outlined or embedded
• Artwork: one design per order

Free templates are available for all three sizes. Use them rather than building from scratch — the three panels sit in a row on the flat sheet with fold lines between, and getting the panel order right matters.

Keep important content clear of the folds. Anything crossing a crease is interrupted, and on laminated 450gsm the fold is visible.

Every file is checked by a real person before printing, so obvious problems get flagged. We don't make changes or fixes to artwork — files should be supplied print-ready.

Sustainability

All our paper stocks are FSC certified. Table talkers can be recycled, though lamination and Spot UV affect recyclability — worth checking with your local facility if that matters to you.

Turnaround & Delivery

Production takes 3–4 working days from receipt of artwork. Turnaround covers production only — delivery is on top of that.

Standard UK delivery is free on all table talker orders, whatever the size or quantity. Collection from our Burnley production facility is also available.
