Uncoated Business Card Printing

350gsm uncoated with a writable, tactile finish — rounded corners available.

Uncoated Business Cards With a Natural Finish

Uncoated card has no sealing layer over the surface. That changes how it looks, how it feels and what you can do with it — the finish is matt and slightly textured rather than smooth, colours sit softer and more muted, and crucially, you can write on it.

It's the choice for anyone whose card does a job beyond being looked at. Appointment cards, loyalty stamps, table numbers, anything where a pen needs to touch the surface. It also suits brands that want to read as considered and understated rather than glossy.

Printed on 350gsm uncoated at standard 85 x 55mm, single or double sided, from 50 cards.

Rounded Corners

Rounded corners are available on this range, and they do two things.

Practically, rounded corners survive a wallet far better than square ones. Square corners are the first thing to bruise, curl and fray, and a card that's been in a pocket for a fortnight starts to look it. Rounded corners take that wear far less visibly.

Visually, they read as deliberate. Almost every card handed over is a sharp-cornered rectangle, so a rounded one registers as a decision rather than a default — which is much of the point of choosing uncoated in the first place.

If you'd rather keep the traditional look, square corners remain the standard option.

What Uncoated Does to Your Design

Worth knowing before you finalise artwork, because uncoated behaves differently to silk.

Ink soaks into the surface rather than sitting on top of it, so colours come out slightly softer and less saturated than they appear on screen. Deep blacks and vivid brand colours in particular will look a shade more muted than the same file printed on silk. That's normal and not a fault — it's the characteristic people choose uncoated for.

Designs with large areas of solid dark colour are the ones most affected. If your brand depends on a punchy, saturated colour, silk will hold it better. If your design leans on typography, line work and white space, uncoated will flatter it.

Why No Lamination

Lamination seals the card surface. On uncoated stock that would remove both the writable finish and the natural texture, which are the two reasons to choose it — so we don't offer it here.

If you want matt, gloss or soft touch lamination, our standard business card printing covers all three on 450gsm silk.

Artwork Requirements

Supply a print-ready PDF at 91 x 61mm — the finished 85 x 55mm card plus 3mm bleed on every edge. Work in CMYK at 300dpi or better, keep text and logos at least 3mm inside the trim, outline or embed fonts, and leave printer marks off.

A free template is available. If you're choosing rounded corners, allow a little extra clearance at the corners so nothing important sits where the curve is cut.

Every file is checked by a real person before printing, so obvious problems get flagged. We don't make changes or fixes to artwork — files should be supplied print-ready.

Standard UK delivery is free on all uncoated business card orders, whatever the quantity. Collection from our Burnley production facility is also available.

We also print folded business cards, and same day business cards dispatched the same working day if you order by 10am.

FAQs

What's the minimum order?
50 cards.

What size are they?
85 x 55mm, the standard UK business card size.

Can I write on them?
Yes. That's the main reason to choose uncoated — the surface takes pen and pencil cleanly without smudging or beading.

Can I have rounded corners?
Yes, rounded corners are available as an option. Square corners are the standard.

Will my colours look different to silk?
Slightly, yes. Ink absorbs into an uncoated surface, so colours print a little softer and less saturated than on a coated stock. Designs with large solid dark areas show the difference most.

Can I have them laminated?
No. Lamination would seal the surface and remove both the texture and the ability to write on it. Our standard business cards offer matt, gloss and soft touch on 450gsm silk.

How long does it take?
1 working day or 3–4 working days production, starting the day after you order, with delivery on top.

Is delivery really free?
Yes. Standard UK delivery is included on all uncoated business card orders, with no minimum spend.
